The Team
Head Honcho - Lyns
As someone who feels the need for 'something nice' most afternoons, I like to think that Jo's Little Bakery is what people think of when they want a little treat.
A good Victoria Sponge reminds me of Sunday afternoon's when we were always allowed a little treat, whilst Dad was watching Central Football or Test Match Special. Now, when husband pops out, and asks if there's anything I need, he knows the answer.... "Something Nice??!"
One other abiding memory from childhood has to be cricket teas. As fa back as I can remember village cricket has been a staple of summer life for our family, and still remains. My mum used to do them, I used to do them, and now my sister, Amanda does them. We're all pretty capable of putting on a good spread in this family!
I have to admit, we very rarely have chocolate and sweets in our house for the boys, but quite often you'll find flapjacks, or some muffins floating around the kitchen.
Cakes should be fun; They should make people smile, and make them say "Oh go on then" when asked if they want another piece (even when they know they shouldn't!)
Hopefully, this is the way that our Little Bakery makes you feel too.
(Oh, and if you're wondering who Jo is.... Well it's me! With the middle name Joanne, I was often called 'Lynsey Jo' when I was much younger... and strangely, the 'Jo' bit just seems to have stuck!)
The Man with the Golden Calculator - Ade
Ade is the man with the calculator... He makes sure that I don't get carried away with the numbers, but he's also the one who has to deal with stuffed cupboards full of papercases, mixed peel and Nutella. He doesn't have the sweetest tooth I know, but I like to think that the thought of a wife chained to the oven isn't a complete turn off!
He is, however, a wonderful husband, and without his love and support, I would probably be drowning my sorrows in raw cake mixture every night!
Little Sis - Manda
What can I say... This girl is my best friend, and my 'something nice' partner in crime! In times or trouble or emotional distress, I know that she'll be there with a shoulder to cry on, and a decent sponge in hand! And I also know that she'll be my wing-man when things get a bit hairy in the kitchen.
The Boys - Joshua & Rhys
My two boys don't really have much to do with the actual baking of cakes, but Joshua usually partakes whenever he's offered. Rhys - well even he's too young to appreciate a good sponge when he sees one. However, these two boys are probably the best thing I've ever done, and I wouldn't be without them - not even for all the cupcakes at The Madhatter's Tea Party!
